At Franciscan Primary School, we are committed to equipping our pupils with the necessary knowledge and skills to thrive in the rapidly evolving world of technology. We recognize the constant changes pupils face in the modern world and strive to empower them with the tools they need to navigate and adapt to the ever-increasing technological advancements.
While we instil in our pupils the skills to utilise technology effectively, we also emphasise the importance of understanding the potential dangers associated with various online and offline devices. E-safety education is an integral part of our curriculum, regularly reinforced across all year groups. We aim to ensure that our pupils can confidently and responsibly engage with technology, making informed decisions about its use.
By imparting technological knowledge, we believe our pupils can develop a deeper appreciation of how technology can enhance their learning across various subjects. They will gain the ability to utilize technology as a tool for research, communication, creativity, and problem-solving, empowering them to become active and informed participants in the digital world.
Our computing curriculum encompasses the three key areas: Computer Science, Information Technology, and Digital Literacy. These areas are revisited regularly to build upon pupils' prior knowledge and ensure continuous growth. We employ a variety of technologies, including Chromebooks, iPads, and virtual reality headsets, to engage pupils in interactive and immersive learning experiences. Additionally, we provide access to a range of computer programs, such as Google Docs, Google Slides, and Scratch, ensuring that our pupils are exposed to the most up-to-date and relevant tools available.
We firmly believe that equipping our pupils with a strong foundation in technology is essential for their success in the 21st century.
