Inclusion Team
Franciscan Primary School inclusion team supports children with additional needs or those at risk of exclusion by identifying needs, implementing support strategies, and liaising with parents, teachers, and external agencies to improve educational outcomes. Teams includes special educational needs coordinator (SENCOs), Learning Mentor and Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) who provide one-to-one or group support, emotional regulation sessions, and help with school transitions.

Learning Mentor - Marsha McIntosh
The Learning Mentor helps pupils overcome barriers to learning related to personal, social, or emotional difficulties. Marsha provides support through activities that build self-esteem, improve social skills, and enhance resilience. Her work is proactive and preventative, addressing potential issues before they escalate, often through one-on-one or small group sessions. Marsha will be instrumental in supporting and signposting families. 
ELSA - Sharon Pourou
The Emotional Literacy Support Assistant focuses on helping pupils understand and manage their emotions to support their understanding around how they learn. She works on developing emotional literacy, teaching coping strategies, and fostering social skills. Sharon’s structured sessions support pupils in expressing their feelings constructively and building positive relationships.
