Parent Thinking Commitee
At Franciscan, we believe that the strongest schools are built on genuine partnership between families, staff and pupils. To help shape the future of our school together, we are launching the Parent Thinking Committee (PTC).
What is the Parent Thinking Committee?
The PTC is a new forum where parents and carers can come together with school leaders to share ideas, reflect on challenges, and help shape decisions that affect the whole school community. It is not about day-to-day issues, but about the bigger picture: how we can ensure Franciscan continues to be a place where every child feels included, valued and able to thrive.
Why are we introducing this?
Education is changing nationally, and schools are being asked to work more closely with families. At the same time, we know that parents bring unique insights, experiences and perspectives that are invaluable in shaping the direction of the school. The PTC provides a respectful, solutions-focused space to explore key topics together and ensure family voices are part of our improvement journey.
How does it work?
- The committee will meet once per half term (6 meetings per year), each lasting around an hour.
- Meetings will focus on a strategic theme, such as:
- Inclusion and SEND
- Communication and transparency
- Behaviour and well-being
- Curriculum and enrichment
- Transition and consistency across year groups
- The focus is on thinking together – exploring ideas, offering constructive feedback, and working in partnership with staff to support positive change.
What is the benefit for families?
By joining the Parent Thinking Committee, families will:
- Have a stronger voice in shaping the future of Franciscan.
- Gain a clearer understanding of the school’s priorities and decision-making.
- Build deeper connections between parents, staff and governors.
- Contribute to creating a school culture rooted in Kindness, Inclusion and Ambition.
Getting Involved
If you are interested in joining the Parent Thinking Committee, please let us know. All parents and carers are warmly invited, and participation can be flexible around your availability.
Together, we can ensure Franciscan continues to grow as a place where children flourish, families feel listened to, and our community thrives.
