School Meals & Allergies
We operate a healthy eating policy for both school lunches and packed lunches. Children are encouraged to enjoy balanced meals that support healthy growth and wellbeing. Primary school children in state-funded schools in London will receive free school meals for the 2026/2027 academic year.
Free School Meals eligibility
If you think your child may be entitled to Free School Meals, please complete an application form available from the school office or apply via https://fsm.lgfl.net/
There is a charge for school meals of £2.65 for Nursery children, unless they are eligible for Free School Meals. All payments for school meals are made via Arbor. Children can choose to have a cooked school meal or bring in a packed lunch. All meals are freshly prepared on site and provide a healthy, balanced diet.
Menus always include a choice of dishes, including salads and a vegetarian option. Special dietary requirements can be catered for where sufficient notice is given.

School lunch or packed lunch
Children may choose either a school lunch or packed lunch, but this choice should remain consistent throughout the term. This supports effective planning and ensures a smooth dining experience.
Our catering provider for 2026–2027 is IFG Primary, offering nutritious meals with a daily vegetarian option.

Benedict's Law and Allergy Safety
Following the campaign for Benedict's Law, there is an increased national focus on ensuring that schools have clear and effective systems for managing allergies and anaphylaxis.
At Franciscan, we are strengthening our approach by ensuring that:
- Allergy information is collected and kept up to date;
- Relevant information is shared appropriately with staff and our catering team;
- Staff receive allergy and anaphylaxis awareness training;
- Children with identified allergies are appropriately supported; and
- Our procedures for responding to an allergic reaction or anaphylaxis are clear.
Our aim is to provide an allergy-aware school environment where every child can participate safely and confidently in school life.
