PE and Sport Premium
What is the Primary PE and Sport Premium?
The Primary PE and Sport Premium is funding provided by the Government to help primary schools improve the quality of Physical Education, sport and physical activity for all pupils.
At Franciscan Primary School, we believe that movement, physical development and sport are fundamental to children’s wellbeing, confidence and readiness for learning. Physical activity supports not only children’s health, but also their ability to focus, collaborate and develop resilience.
The Sports Premium enables us to enhance the experiences we provide for pupils by developing high-quality PE teaching, providing a wide range of sporting opportunities and encouraging pupils to develop lifelong healthy habits.
Through this funding we aim to ensure that every child at Franciscan:
- develops strong gross motor skills, coordination and movement confidence
- experiences a broad range of sports and physical activities
- has opportunities to take part in clubs, competitions and sporting events
- understands the importance of healthy lifestyles and physical wellbeing
- develops confidence through teamwork, challenge and participation
The funding supports initiatives such as running and fitness activities, extra-curricular sports clubs, sports competitions, swimming provision, equipment and team kits, ensuring pupils can fully participate in physical education and represent the school with pride.
Our Sports Premium Funding
Franciscan Primary School receives Primary PE and Sport Premium funding each academic year to support improvements in PE, sport and physical activity across the school.
This funding is used to make sustainable improvements to our provision so that the benefits extend beyond a single year and support future cohorts of pupils.
